Happy Halloween!

Happy-Halloween

Happy Halloween! It’s these 2 guys first!

Now down to business, lots of good news this week

Mike Blumenthal addressed a commonly asked question on the LocalU blog: My Local Knowledge Panel Doesn’t Show on Google – What can I do?

Action: First off… WTF IS A LOCAL KNOWLEDGE PANEL?! It shows up on the right when you search your brand name. Don’t see yours? Start off by searching your business name and zip code in Moz Local search. Start working there to get things cleaned up. Give me a holler before you spend too much time or money though.

Great news! The InsideLocal webinar series begins again after a year hiatus (or almost a year). This is the BEST collection of local experts discussing local search current events with actionable how-tos.

Action: Go to the link above and sign up for the FREE webinar if you really want to get your hands dirty with local search.

The first of this series (Wed Nov 12th) will have expert panelists Mike Blumenthal, Andrew Shotland, and Joy Hawkins and will be discussing pigeon poo.

This one is MAJOR!

Finally you will now get notifications when people leave a Google review for your business. Jade Wang wrote about the details over at Google and Your Business along with other features with update.

Action: Get the Google My Business app on your Android phone (iOS coming soon).

Some WordPress news: Matt Mullenweg (WP co-founder) gave the keynote at San Francisco’s WordCamp sharing incredible stats and announcing next year San Francisco’s WordCamp will be replaced by “WordCamp US”.

Action: Watch the video at the link above for some WP motivation!

This last one is for those out there overloaded by the “content marketing” storm. Ronell Smith wrote a nice article as an interview/discussion format with Lauren Hall-Stigerts about Ways To Make Web Content More Rewarding And Less Daunting

Action: Don’t stress. Not everyone is an author. If you’re not comfortable writing, get someone else to do it. You can still be a quality content generator with photos, videos, or just share other’s work (see everything you just consumed as an example).

That’s it for this week. That should keep you busy for a little while. Please share your thoughts and questions with me.
